Work at Flanders Auctions

Location: Roeselare – West Flanders

To support the continued growth of Flanders Auctions, we are looking for an Art & Antiques Expert.
Do you have experience at an auction house, as an antiques dealer, in a gallery, or in a similar art and antiques environment? Then we would love to get to know you.

In this role, you will work closely with Pol, Lieven, and Wouter and will be jointly responsible for the preparation, follow-up, and quality of our entire auction catalogue across all categories.

What will you do?

Process auction items from A to Z: analysis, identification, and cataloguing.
Accurately describe objects for the auction catalogue, putting yourself in the shoes of potential buyers.
Recognize styles, periods, materials, artists, and makers, or identify them efficiently using the necessary tools.
Date and estimate objects.
Actively contribute ideas on the quality, presentation, and structure of the catalogue.
Occasionally visit clients on site to collect or inspect items.

Who are we looking for?

A background in art, antiques, art history, or comparable industry experience is preferred.
You are a strong team player who wants to contribute to the expansion of Flanders Auctions.
You manage deadlines effectively and enjoy working in a fast-paced, varied environment.
You are proactive, pragmatic, and willing to take initiative.
You maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in client communications.
Native or fluent Dutch is required; knowledge of English and French is a big plus.
