France, early 19th century.
The clockmaker Faisant was active on Rue Saint-Denis in Paris in 1806. He was active during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. According to Tardy, the name 'Faisant' appears on the dials of a lyre clock and a longcase regulator clock (Tardy, Dictionnaire des horlogers français, Paris, 1971, p. 220) and should be cited in historical documents, such as the inventory of Marshal Michel Ney’s estate from December 1815.
Literature: Pierre Kjellberg, Encyclopédie de La Pendule Française, Les Editions de l'Amateur, 1997, pg. 384-385, for similar clocks from Faisant à Paris.
