Haute Epoque, An Exceptional Silver Reliquary Shrine with a Relic for the Saints of Argona, Cordoba, Spain, 1630-1660.
Silver reliquary shrine.
A triangular trapezoidal reliquary case, finished with an openwork frame and mounted with three C-shaped forms converging to a crucifix.
With a bone relic for the Saints of Argona (Saint Bonosus and Saint Maximian).
The base is decorated with a characteristic lobed cut, as only known on a few 17th-century candlesticks from Cordoba.
With the inscription at the bottom: 'Este Reliquaes dello Santos de Argona' (This relic belongs to the Saints of Argona).
Silver, unmarked, silver tested.
Probably Cordoba.
Spain, 1630-1660.
