An Antique Wrought Iron Chest, Nuremberg, 17th century.

Money chest or sea chest, with original keys.

The exterior is clad with riveted wrought iron bands or straps, and is fitted with heavy hinges and handles.

A decorative, but false, lock is mounted on the front to deceive. The actual lock is "hidden" in the lid.

The interior is red patinated and features a smaller, locked compartment with a second key.

An impressive 9-point lock with an openwork cover plate is mounted in the lid.
