Frédéric DUMESNIL (1710/17-1791) 'Portrait of a lady'

The painting is signed and dated lower middle: F. Dumesnil, Fecit, 1738.

The painter Fréderic Dumesnil is forgotten. According to Mr. Neil Jeffares who wrote a short biography of Mr. F. Dumesnil, he was a court painter for Leopold Philippe d'Arenberg (1690-1754) from 1730. It is possible this painting subjects the wife of Leopold Philippe d'Arenberg, Mrs. Marie-Françoise Pignatelli. It is also possible the painting depicts another family member of the family d'Arenberg.
