Full lot description

A vermeil chalice, silver, Late Baroque, probably Germany, 18th century.

A very richly decorated chalice from the late Baroque period, the first half of the 18th century. The chalice is richly decorated with items of passion (Arma Christi) on the base—various flowers and flora on the cuppa, nodus and stem.

The paten is most likely not original to the chalice and is made of silver, not hallmarked. The engraving is done by hand. It is irregular.

On the base, the chalice has various inscriptions:
- One dated 1788
- One dated 1899
Various other marks are illegible. Unfortunately, no hallmarks were found.

The chalice is made of silver, and gilt (vermeil).

Total gross weight:
- Chalice: 488,40g.
- Paten: 128 g.
